Working Principle and Core Structure
A rolling ball tilt switch (also known as a steel ball switch or tilt switch) is a mechanical sensor that triggers circuits via gravity. Its core structure consists of a metal ball, conductive electrodes, and an insulating housing. When the device is horizontal, the ball rests in the center of the insulating cavity, leaving the circuit open. Once tilted beyond a set angle, the ball rolls to touch the electrodes, closing the circuit and triggering a signal.

Types and Technical Parameters

  • Directional Type: Responds only to tilts in specific directions (left/right, front/back). Classic models include CSX-SEN-360A and CSX-SEN-360T.
  • Omnidirectional Type: Triggered by tilts in any direction (e.g., CSX series).
  • Optical Variant: Contactless design (e.g., CSX45PS) using the ball to block an infrared light path, avoiding metal oxidation and extending lifespan.
    Key parameters: tilt angle accuracy (±5°), temperature resistance (-40°C to +85°C), protection rating (IP67), and current load (≤250mA), suitable for low-current signal activation scenarios.
